Cyberpunk 2077: All Unique Tech Weapons, Ranked

Cyberpunk 2077 is not a game that holds you by the hand. The adult nature of the narrative should make it very clear that the target audience needs to be mature. If that sounds like you, then hopefully you’ve also shown a little maturity behind this trigger as well when you’re in combat.

See, smart weapons give you aim assist if you’re having trouble. Power weapons count on you missing and hoping for the best on the ricochet. Those who use tech weapons need cool heads and careful aim as they charge up their shots. If you can do it, then forget the other categories, use a tech weapon since they deal the highest damage without exception. Just take a little time to know which one of them is right for you.

6 Chaos

  • Pistol.
  • Iconic: Crit chance, damage type, and status-effect application are randomized every time you reload the weapons.

This is not a beef against random effects. They can be done in a fun and “surprise me” kind of way where you’re happy with whatever the effect happens to be. This weapon is a great deal of fun to use, but it’s outperformed by most other pistols, even standard ones of the rare and epic variety.

So what’ the problem? Poor DPS overall. Even if you get a great roll for the clip, you’ll still be performing well below the benchmark of every other gun on the list; it’s really just not impressive enough. So go ahead and use it if you want a laugh, but if your goal is putting enemies in the ground efficiently, seek better options.

5 Comrade’s Hammer RT-46 Burya

  • Revolver.
  • Explosive rounds.
  • Iconic: Chance of knockdown.
  • Only one bullet per clip.
  • Takes longer to reload.

This gun’s greatest strength is also its greatest weakness. It has a single, terrifying bullet that deals tons of damage. If you scope out this pistol, you can easily replace the sniper rifle in your inventory with it. The damage is just as good and the reload time, though penalized, is still quicker than most sniper rifles.

But you’ll pretty much have to carry two other assault rifles or SMGs to compensate for when the real fighting begins because you absolutely cannot aim this gun well enough or quickly enough in open combat. It’s great if you would rather be using two automatic weapons anyhow, but for those with a normal loadout, this gun’s signature quirk just doesn’t work out.

4 Lizzie’s Gun

  • Pistol.
  • Chance to apply a burn effect on targets.
  • Iconic: Adds one round to the clip. Clips have more rounds when firing at a full change.

Is reloading your least favorite part of combat? If so, then you’ve found your new favorite weapon in the game. It’s got an extra round and if you’re shooting charged shots (like you should be to get the most out of a tech weapon), then you’ll be granted bonus shots in the magazine.

The chance to burn is nothing astonishing, all tech weapons are slower so the chance to apply a status effect will always be a lot lower than with normal weapons, but the DPS on this gun is solid, so you won’t have to count on that. Spend more time shooting and less time reloading and you’ve got a recipe for a gun every bit as devastating as a rifle.

3 Breakthrough

  • Sniper Rifle.
  • Iconic: Bullets also have ricochet and can penetrate walls.

When you first heard that there was a kind of weapon that you could charge up to multiply your damage, is the first thing that came to your mind a sniper rifle? It should have been. If it wasn’t, this is the gun that will make you realize your mathematical error. When charged up, this absolutely eviscerates opponents.

And their cover is no good. Combine this with a good ping quickhack and you can kill every enemy in a room without ever having to enter the room yourself by firing through most walls and barriers. They are sitting ducks. It also gains the ricochet effect from power weapons as a two-for-one if you’re still not sold on it.

2 Widow Maker

  • Sniper Rifle.
  • Deal chemical damage and has a chance to apply poison effects.
  • Iconic: Fires two projectiles per shot.

Just when you thought you found the sniper rifle of your dreams comes another challenger to join the party. The chemical damage and poison chance are just OK, they’re mostly useless though since anything that you hit with this and survives is going to be reduced to a red mist before ever having to worry about poison.

This sniper rifle fires two shots at once. Two. And given that you’re already going to be charging up your shot, this means that other tech guns will be doing triple damage while you will be doing sextuple damage. It’s as ridiculous as it sounds and even if you’re not a fan of sniper rifles or tech weapons, you should use this just to see the ragdoll physics on the enemies. They go flying.

1 Apparition

  • Pistol
  • Iconic: When your health is low, increases fire rate, reload speed, and damage. Charged shots deal double damage.

It’s hard to put any tech weapon over a sniper rifle, but the Apparition gets the sole exception. No, it doesn’t do the sheer single-shot quantity of the sniper rifles, but the fact that it’s close warrants another look at this thing’s potential.

Its charged shots deal double damage, so it gets the same bonus that the Widow Maker has, and on top of that, it’s a pistol, so it’s useful at almost any range, not just long-ranged and scoped. As far as raw DPS numbers, because of the extra shots and needing to reload less, it’s the king of the hill and so it deserves the top spot on the tech weapons list.

The damage gets even higher at lower health, but with how quickly the enemies die, you probably won’t have to see or use that feature of this pistol very often.
