Call Of Duty: Warzone 2 is more like Black Ops 4's Blackout says rumour

The newest rumours say Call Of Duty: Warzone 2 will be more like the Blackout battle royale mode and not everyone’s thrilled with the idea.

While a proper reveal for this year’s mainline Call Of Duty game, Modern Warfare 2, is likely happening next month, Activision has been less forthcoming about its Warzone sequel.

No real details have been shared aside from it being a ‘new Warzone experience’ and the fact that it’s out this year. However, a new rumour points to it being more like the original Call Of Duty battle royale game.

Before Warzone, the series’ first attempt at battle royale was Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode and it seems that will be a major influence for the Warzone sequel.

Warzone 2 won’t abandon everything that the first Warzone does, however. Loadouts will still be present but will apparently be locked behind strongholds. Depending on the stronghold, you’ll need to complete a different objective to unlock the loadout (e.g., defuse a bomb, kill AI controlled enemies).

Ground loot and pro perks will also return from Warzone, but you will have limited inventory space, similar to Blackout, so you can only pick up so many extra weapons.

Lastly, Verdansk, the original Warzone map, is believed to be coming back and the Highrise map from the 2009 Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be included too. That second one makes sense considering Warzone 2’s release will coincide with the Modern Warfare 2 reboot.

This all comes from YouTuber NerosCinema, who claims to have spoken with someone who has played Warzone 2. Although he’s careful to say some elements may be inaccurate, regular Call Of Duty leaker Tom Henderson has already suggested most of it is true.

Henderson is considered a reliable source of insider info, responsible for multiple Call Of Duty leaks in the past, so his support for NerosCinema’s claims are a major boost.

Fans already seem split on the idea of Warzone 2 being less like its predecessor and more like Blackout. Some are put off by the likes of the strongholds and inventory management, while others are more welcome to the idea.

Others argue that wires have been crossed somewhere and what NerosCinema is describing isn’t Warzone 2, but the new DMZ multiplayer mode for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Although if that’s the case then Henderson has also got it wrong.

There’s currently no word on when Activision will share official details on the new Warzone or even if it will release alongside Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but it is supposed to be out this year.
