While it doesn’t look like Call of Duty Modern Warfare’s Battle Royale mode will be playable during February, recent reports indicate that fans won’t be waiting long to download and play it. New rumours suggest the new Call of Duty Warzone update is being scheduled for March 2020. There were hopes that Modern Warfare Season 2 would be updated this week with the new mode, but it looks like Activision has other plans.
Instead, according to VGC, Call of Duty Modern Warfare Battle Royale mode will be released early next month.
And not only that, but it will be playable to all gamers on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
According to the new report that cites developer sources, Call of Duty Warzone will be the name of the standalone version of the game.
This will also be the name of the Battle Royale mode found in Modern Warfare, and all gamers will be able to play together on live servers.
There will even be incentives for Warzone gamers to upgrade to a full version of Modern Warfare.
It’s also understood that the Modern Warfare Battle Royale will share a Battle Pass with the base game.
So far, no set release date has been confirmed for COD Warzone, but it’s understood that it will roll out during early March.
However, a delay is also possible, depending on how the final development cycle draws to a close.

While Activision has yet to announce the launch of Battle Royale in Modern Warfare, plenty of evidence has been found for its eventual inclusion.
Data miners and curious gamers continue to find info on the upcoming COD download, and there was even a big teaser trailer dropped during Season 2 by Activision that hints at a new update coming to PS4 and Xbox One.
That’s without mentioning the new classified menu option that has popped up in Modern Warfare, which looks certain to be filled by a new Battle Royale mode.
Developers Infinity Ward has made no comment regarding Battle Royale, which will reportedly include matches of up to 200 players.
Not only will Call of Duty Warzone reportedly offer a higher player number but it also sounds like it will be sticking around after Modern Warfare stops being updated.
The same leak suggests that Warzone will become the third pillar within the franchise, alongside the paid-for annual Call of Duty releases, and COD Mobile.
Call of Duty Black Ops 5 is expected to be announced for release in 2020, replacing Modern Warfare.
And with the launch of Warzone, developers Treyarch will not need to develop its own Battle Royale mode.
And that means the return of Zombies mode could be in the offing, another popular COD feature.
As COD fans will know, Activision follows a three-year development cycle that includes its three studios, Treyarch, Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward.
Raven Software also plays a support role in most of these projects but doesn’t handle mainline solo games by itself.
As an example, Raven Software has reportedly collaborated with Infinity Ward to build Call of Duty Warzone.
