Banjo Kazooie and Dragon Quest Hero coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Nintendo has unveiled two upcoming DLC characters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with one marking the much rumoured Microsoft crossover.

During Nintendo’s E3 presentation, the company kicked off with a special trailer showing the heroes of Dragon Quest as a new DLC character, displaying a variety of different skins from across the franchise.

Most interesting was the reveal of a special Japanese RPG-style menu, showing four moves in Sizzle, Psyche Up, Oomph, and Snooze. It looks like using these moves is tied to a special magic power gauge above the character’s percentage.

It wasn’t the only character reveal, however, with Banjo Kazooie also set to debut too, meaning there’s now characters in the game from Sony, Microsoft and Sega.

Banjo Kazooie originally debuted on the Nintendo 64 in 1998 when developer Rare wasn’t owned by Microsoft, with sequel Banjo Tooie following in 2000.

Microsoft has barely used the Banjo name since, only releasing spin-off Nuts & Bolts on Xbox 360 in 2008 where gameplay revolved around building vehicles over platforming.

Banjo’s moves in Smash heavily revolve around his bird pal Kazooie, with a level based on the game’s overworld also shown featuring nemesis Gruntilda flying around the place.

Dragon Quest Hero is set to arrive in the summer, while Banjo Kazooie is slated to arrive in the autumn for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
