Apple Arcade adds Butter Royale, a family-friendly food-fight battle royale

Apple Arcade has today announced that they're adding a brand new, completely exclusive, new game to the carefully curated video game subscription service.

Joining the 103 existing Apple Arcade game titles is ‘Butter Royale’, a food-fight themed multiplayer battle royale game that puts a family-friendly spin on the popular genre.

The game is created by Mighty Bear Games, a Singapore-based studio said to be building the next generation of massively multiplayer online mobile games.

"Set in the near future, after a global ban on weapons, contestants engage in food fights on Butter Island to satisfy their hunger for competitive action," the games description reads.

"Contestants use ‘Nutritionally Operated Machines’ (NOMs) to launch food at one another during five-minute matches, while trying to escape floods of butter to get to safe zones."

Gamers play offline against AI bots, or in the online mode with 32 players competing to be the last one standing, either solo or in squads.

Players can also choose one of any 52 characters, spanning diverse backgrounds, age, and gender.

The controls are said to be designed to be simple and accessible so players new to gaming will be able to pick it up quickly.

"We designed ‘Butter Royale’ to push the envelope on fun and inclusivity," explains Simon Davis, CEO of Mighty Bear Games.

“We want everyone in the family to love it and see themselves represented in the game, from young children to grandparents.”

“It is also important to us that ‘Butter Royale’ is a nonviolent shooter, so younger players can safely join in. The food-fight theme was perfect for that,” adds Davis.

‘Butter Royale’ is safe for children ages nine and above. The game has no in-game chats, in-game advertisements, loot boxes, or in-app purchases.

So parents can feel safe letting their little ones play across Apple's range of devices.

At lauch ‘Butter Royale’ can be played across iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac, and with Family Sharing, up to six users can play on a single Apple Arcade subscription.

With Apple Arcade, subscribers get unlimited access to 100+ new and exclusive games.

Subscribers will also benefit from the full version of every game including all updates and expansions, without any ads or additional in-game purchases.
