Apex Legends celebrating second anniversary with Season 8

Respawn has released a new story trailer introducing the newest Apex Legends character, Fuse, who will be added as part of Season 8.

It’s been nearly two years since the surprise launch of Apex Legends and Respawn is gearing up to celebrate the battle royale’s anniversary next month.

Although the anniversary is on February 4, Respawn will be releasing Season 8 a couple of days before that on February 2.

Subtitled Mayhem, the season will, of course, bring a swathe of new content with its battle pass, although the main addition will be new character Fuse.

Described as a laid-back explosives enthusiast, you can check out Fuse’s backstory in the video above, which also includes some additional worldbuilding for the overall lore of Apex Legends.

Fuse also comes with a new weapon, a lever-action rifle called the 30-30 Repeater, and Respawn has teased that his arrival will dramatically change the Kings Canyon map. The official website even calls it Obliterated Kings Canyon.

So far, this all seems fairly standard for a new season, but you can probably expect Respawn to have a few more surprises in store to properly celebrate the anniversary.

The last season saw Apex Legends finally make the jump to Steam, although the planned Nintendo Switch version was delayed. It’s currently scheduled for a 2021 release.

A mobile version for iOS and Android devices is also in development, but that’s not due until 2022.

Apex Legends is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
