Games Done Quick is going to be running its latest all-women event starting tomorrow on Twitch. The event in question, Frost Fatales 2022, will begin on February 27 and conclude on March 6.
“Frost Fatales 2022, our next all-women charity speedrunning event, will be taking place from February 27 to March 5,” GDQ announced. “Be sure to check out when your favorite runs or runners will be featured and thank you to everyone who has shown interest!”
Frost Fatales is a charity fundraiser showcasing the speedrunning skills of women. The charity that was chosen this year is Malala Fund. This organization aims to “champion every girl’s right to 12 years of free, safe, quality education.” Malala Fund refers to itself as being about “creating a more equal world by making sure all girls can go to school.”
“Frost Fatales is once again proud to be benefiting Malala Fund,” GDQ revealed. “Malala Fund is working for a world where all girls can learn and lead. Malala Fund advocates for resources and policy changes needed to give all girls a secondary education, invests in local education activists, and amplifies the voices of girls fighting for change.”
Speedrunners will be competing in a variety of different games including those in the Zelda, Final Fantasy, Spyro, and Pokemon franchises. GDQ has posted a full schedule on its website.
The last event put on by GDQ, Awesome Games Done Quick, managed to bring in over $3.4 million. The beneficiary of this charity fundraiser was the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Director of Operations at GDQ Matt Merkle said at the time that “I’m incredibly happy with the support we've received thus far and itching to see how far it goes. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, it's all for a great cause.”
