eSports part ways with coach Boo1k

Anatoly “Boo1k” Ivanov is free of contract after working a bit more than half a year in different capacities with the Dota 2 team.

Formerly coach for Gambit Esports, Boo1k joined ahead of The International 2019 and teamed up with Arsenij “ArsZeeqq” Usov to prepare the CIS juggernaut team for the biggest tournament of the year. While ArsZeeqq was focusing on the drafts and overall in-game strategies, Boo1k was there to help the players to improve communication.  However, the two coaches formula didn’t push VP above 9th-12th places at TI9, and in the tournament aftermath, ArsZeeqq was let go and fully replaced by Boo1k, who was promoted to head coach.

Heading into the new season, Boo1k and the entire team began a completely new journey filled with multiple shuffles and fresh challenges. They started with two youngsters with no competitive experience what so ever, joined by a renowned CIS player who decided to role swap. While Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok powered through all the difficulties that came with his return to CIS and with the role change, the two pub stars had to be replaced after VP lost the qualifiers for the first major of the new season. Unfortunately, when they did qualify for a Major, the tournament got postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. With no LAN events on the schedule for the next few months, and with plenty of time to figure out what’s next for the Dota 2 competitive scene, VP decided to release Boo1k.

“Anatoly did a lot for VP in TI9 and contributed immensely to our updated roster after the event. We would like to thank him for his bold ideas and great effort in training. We wish Boo1k only the best in his future career,” said Sergey Glamazda, General Manager in the official announcement. are one of the four CIS teams that will compete WeSave! Charity tournament put together by WePlay! Esports. The CIS region matches start this coming Friday, on the 20th of March, but VP’s first series is scheduled for Sunday, March 22.
