Minnesota-based esports organization Version1, owners of the Call of Duty League team Minnesota Røkkr, announced Wednesday that it has signed a media rights partnership with digital media licensing provider ESPAT AI. Version1 is owned by Minnesota Vikings owners the Wilf family and investor Gary Vaynerchuk.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Under the terms of the partnership, ESPAT AI will distribute images and video from Version1’s Call of Duty, Rocket League, and Valorant teams exclusively through its media licensing platform. In addition, ESPAT AI will also capture images and videos at Version1 and Minnesota Røkkr in-person events (when local and state laws permit) to expand the organization’s catalog for “editorial and commercial use,” according to a release.
Version1 and Minnesota Røkkr join a growing list of esports organizations that have partnered with ESPAT AI including Misfits Gaming Group (owners of LEC team Misfits Gaming, CDL team Florida Mutineers, and OWL team Florida Mayhem), Spain-based MAD Lions and Team Queso, and Hong Kong-based Talon Esports.
At the end of February, ESPAT AI hired former National Football League and Major League Soccer executive Matt Hill as its new CEO. In an interview with The Esports Observer, Hill said that the company is exploring new technology to enhance the company’s catalog, and in the months ahead will seek out funding to implement these new ideas.
