For the 7th consecutive year, our friends over at Leaders in Sport are searching all corners of the globe to uncover organizations and individuals pushing boundaries in sport with the Leaders Sports Awards. 2020 awarded groundbreaking work from the likes of Team Vitality x Adidas, UEFA, Formula 1, BT Sport, Drone Racing League, International Cricket Council, and many more.

This year, one thing is for sure, the sports industry has changed. Business models have been disrupted and consumer behavior has most likely changed forever. Therefore, to adapt to such changes we’re excited to announce the introduction of the Digital Entertainment Category; a category focused solely around the Esports and Gaming sectors.

In an incredibly competitive market during a time of rapid growth, the Leaders Sports Awards will be looking for the Esports or Gaming Organisation of the Year. They will be awarding best-in-class work encompassing a multitude criteria including sponsorship, production, consumer broadcasting, content creation, and brand activations.

We caught up with Leaders in Sport’s Managing Director, Laura McQueen, on this new addition:

“Working closely with our partners at The Esports Observer, we’re excited by the rapid growth in Esports and Gaming and the increasing intersection with the traditional sports market. Introducing a category to amplify and award the best work being produced therefore just seemed like a natural evolution for the Leaders Sports Awards.”

In addition to Digital Entertainment, other new categories for 2021 include Fan Experience, Sustainability and Inclusion, see the full list here. Not forgetting the prestigious Leaders Under 40 Award too, where 30 exceptional business leaders aged under 40 are acclaimed.

Entries will be reviewed by an expert panel of over 100 senior industry executives from international organizations, namely Amazon, BBC, Coca-Cola, WWE, FIFA, Twitter, NFL, International Olympic Committee, City Football Group, NBA, Heineken, and many more.

Now more than ever it’s important to be visible ahead of others and recognized on a truly global platform, the Leaders Sports Awards does this. 2021 nominations are now open until 11 June 2021, find everything you need to know here.

Note: Leaders in Sport is a part of Leaders Group, the portfolio of which includes The Esports Observer.
