Last June, The Pokémon Company announced its partnership with Tencent to make a MOBA game, Pokémon Unite. But the Pokémon Company has not officially revealed any new information about the game since its announcement. Nevertheless a recent leak has confirmed the presence of alternate skins in Pokémon Unite, along with some new playable characters.
Leaker Centro Pokémon shared screenshots of the game to their Twitter account on Jan. 15. Most notably, they show off the previously unannounced feature of Pokémon costume changes. The Pokémon Unite skins include pirate Cinderace, scuba Garchomp, Hawaiian Machamp and more.
In addition, Lucario has a costume seemingly inspired by Sir Aaron from the movie Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. Currently, many of the details about alternate costumes in Pokémon Unite remain unconfirmed. We do not yet know how to unlock them, how many skins each character has, or whether each character gets an alternate costume at all.
More about the Pokémon Unite skins leak
In addition to showing off the game’s skins, the latest Pokémon Unite leak revealed several new playable characters. The gameplay screenshots show Cinderace, Mr. Mime, Garchomp, Gardevoir, Absol, Crustle and Alolan Ninetales, none of whom were previously revealed. Along with Cramorant this brings the currently known roster of Pokémon Unite up to 22 characters.
Centro Pokémon has been busy in recent days. Just yesterday the Spanish fansite leaked that Pokémon Diamond and Pearl remakes would arrive on Switch this year. That leak did not feature screenshots as evidence like the Pokémon Unite leak did, however. Still, the Unite leak lends credibility to the site, and thus to the Diamond and Pearl leak as well.
We’re only a couple of weeks into Pokémon’s 25th anniversary and its clear that Game Freak has much planned. From New Pokémon Snap to Katy Perry music, the reveals had already come with many surprises. Now, fans can add Pokémon Unite and its many skins to the list of things to look forward to.
