OG overcome Cloud9 to secure IEM Katowice spot; NBK goes huge

OG kept the dream alive and have made it to the main event of IEM Katowice 2021 after a thrilling 2-1 win over Cloud9. One of the teams captains Nathan ‘NBK-‘ Schmitt put up a star performance, netting himself 100.3 average damage per round across the three map series to lead the server in addition to his leading +23 kill-to-death differential.

Things kicked off in favor of OG as they looked comfortable on Cloud9’s map pick of Nuke. They would get a strong CT half at 10-5 before doubling their opponents second half rounds to secure the 16-8 victory and go up 1-0.

Moving into their own map pick of Overpass, it would be quite the opposite. Cloud9 would be the team to storm off to a strong halftime lead at 11-4 before closing it out with a 5-7 second half to seal the deal 16-11.

NBK rose to new heights on the third and final map of Dust2 where he seemed to be able to pick up kills anywhere. The 26-year-old Frenchman finished the map with a +18 k/d and 114.8 ADR to lead his team to a 16-12 victory. This was despite an attempt at a massive comeback from Cloud9 who finished the first half down 12-3 before bringing it within one at 13-12.
