Nexplay Esports Signs Wild Rift Roster in the Philippines

Philippines-based esports organization, Nexplay Esports announced the signing of a Wild Rift roster, formerly known as Aether Rift. This marks the complete absorption of influencers and esports teams under the Akosi Dogie brand. Akosi Dogie is a popular influencer and streamer and former competitive Mobile Legends professional player from the Philippines who primarily streams on Facebook Gaming, with a following of over 5M.

Nexplay Esports has now set itself up as one of SEA’s premier esports companies with operations across multiple sectors. Their acquisition of Akosi Dogie along with all the streamers, influencers, and esports teams under his wing is in line with bigger plans which include its desire to be a part of Riot Games’ global ecosystem for Wild Rift.

Mobile MOBA is the most popular genre in SEA and the release of Wild Rift is expected to bring major changes for the community and industry. While titles like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang have been the dominant force, the arrival of Wild Rift has now presented players and organizations with a new opportunity to get in the door early.  Organizations in SEA have already begun to scout for rosters in the region with names like Team Secret, Bigetron Esports, and Nova Esports already announcing plans.

Earlier this month, Riot Games revealed their initial plans to build the Wild Rift esports ecosystem, with official competitions set to come to life in the second half of 2021.
