The National Basketball Association has partnered with Epic Games to bring content from all 30 teams into the Fortnite game store beginning May 21. NBA branded content will include team jerseys and cosmetic accessories for characters. The agreement between Epic Games and the basketball league also includes a special tournament to be held in Fortnite and more features still to be announced for Fortnite Creative.
Fortnite will also have Utah Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell and Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young promoting special packs in the Item Shop with accessories personally chosen by them. Such packs will be named Locker Bundles.
The Fortnite x NBA: The Crossover will also feature a five-day competition, the Fortnite x NBA Team Battles, which will allow players to represent their favorite teams of the basketball league while playing the battle royale to earn in-game currency, or V Bucks..
This is not the first partnership between Epic Games and a major sports league. In November 2020, the National Football League (NFL) signed with the game publisher to have its teams featured both in Fortnite and Psyonix Studio’s Rocket League.
