MIBR Raises Funds for COVID-19 Relief in Brazil – The Esports Observer

Immortals Gaming Club-owned Brazilian esports organization MIBR raised over $60K BRL (roughly $11.5K USD) in donations on a nine-hour-long online event on May 8. The funds will be given to the Unique Center of the Favelas (CUFA, from the acronym in Portuguese), an internationally recognized social organization, which will apply the resources exclusively for COVID-19 relief.

Brazil is still being badly hit by COVID-19, having registered over 420K deaths to date since the beginning of the pandemic in the country and still maintaining an average of over 2K deaths every day. The situation is especially serious to people with economic challenges, a demographic focused on by CUFA in its actions.

MIBR’s online event was held in Twitch and featured seven different games and many Brazilian esports personalities including Alexandre “Gaules” Borba (one of the most-watched streamers in the world) and players from MIBR’s teams. Named “MIBR Day”, the live stream peaked 66K unique viewers.
