MAPFRE enters deals with ESL, LVP, GGTech

Spanish insurance company MAPFRE has agreed on a three-way deal with ESL, LVP, and GGTech. Each of the deals will be separate and will have different focuses.

Raúl Costilla, General Commercial Director at MAPFRE reportedly said that insurance for esports players was being considered but isn’t a priority.

Announced during Madrid Game Week, ESL’s sim racing tournament – which includes racing title rFactor 2 – will be renamed the MAPFRE Racing Series. While a schedule for the main event hasn’t been announced as of writing, qualifiers for the season will take place over November 3rd to December 15th.

Spanish tournament organiser LVP is behind numerous competitions for games such as League of Legends, Clash Royale, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Call of Duty. The company’s competitions for Clash Royale and League of Legends – which are part of the Superliga Orange – will be sponsored by MAPFRE.

GGTech is a company that has multiple focuses – on of which is esports training in education, which is the aspect that MAPFRE will be focusing on. GGTech has a hand in the Spanish University Masters, a collegiate League of Legends competition that pits countries against each other as part of the University Esports Masters series.

Outside of esports, MAPFRE sponsors Renault Sport’s Formula Team. Renault Sport itself is involved with esports as it is partnered with French organisation Team Vitality to compete in both Rocket League and the Formula 1 Esports Series.

Esports Insider says: It’s great to see MAPFRE get involved in esports in numerous ways. ESL and LVP are big names in the realm of esports tournaments so it appears as if the insurance company has chosen well, but we’ll have to wait and see to find out just how involved it will really be.
