The next Overwatch League season is approaching quickly – after a few off-season months, the 2020 season is about to start in early February. After the opening weekend on February 8th and 9th, the Overwatch League schedule is going to cover a total of 27 weeks – plenty of interesting matches, competitions and games to watch for fans.
A level playing field
While the last two seasons had their fair bit of exciting competitions and surprise winners, this season is starting with a fairly even setup. The previous champions, the San Francisco Shock aren’t playing in the very first week, nor are the runners-up, the Vancouver Titans. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be interesting games happening though – both New York Excelsior and London Spitfires are playing.
They are definitely ones to watch and sit high in the Overwatch League 2020 power rankings, despite only playing in the middle of the field in the 2019 season. By week 4, the two champion teams will also be joining the fray, and the season will be fully up and running with up to 7 matches per week.
The Overwatch League Schedule
Every one of the 20 teams is going to play a total of 28 matches across 52 different weekend events. These events will be hosted across the world in the different homesteads of the teams, each of which belongs to one of the team – much like traditional sports leagues have home and away games across their league.
In the middle of the regular season, there will once again be an all-star event happening. Roughly in the middle of the season, the best of the best will be competing in a separate event for the glory of it all… and, of course, a sizeable prize pool on top of that.
According to the Overwatch League schedule, the grand finale of the season will be the weekend of August 9th – the quarter, half and finales will be taking place in Philadelphia. Unlike previous seasons, this time around, the competition won’t be split into multiple stages – this is due to scheduling and travel requirements to different arenas around the world.

Game statistics
Once again, Korean players make up more than half of the players in the league – 114 of the overall 201 players are from South Korea. 27 are from the US and 15 are from China. A total of 19 countries have players representing them in the competition – from places like Vietnam, Israel, Taiwan, Belgium, Finland, and Thailand.
