League of Legends: Pobelter to Join CLG as Starting Mid, Replacing Crown

After a tough start to the LCS, picking up just one win in eight matches, CLG has decided to make a roster change in the form of Eugene “Pobelter” Park. Pobelter will replace the current CLG mid laner and former World Champion Lee “Crown” Min-ho.

While things have not gone as expected for Crown, especially considering the visa issues he had, it’s always a shame to see such a star player tossed aside. One of the securities of the LCS/LEC becoming franchises was removing the fear of relegation, giving teams more time to build a roster rather than making quick fixes. Sadly, we’ve seen a large number of changes already this split. Though they’re mostly in the LEC, it leads us to assume this isn’t going to be the case.

As for Pobelter, he joins from Team Liquid. Here he was acting as a positional coach after failing to find a team having left Flyquest in 2019. However, due to the very public visa issues with Mads ‘Broxah’ Brock-Pedersen, Pobelter was due to start the split for Team Liquid.  Shern “Shernfire” Cherng Tai was able to join the side in time, however, relieving Pobelter of the role. This allowed him to stay as a substitute and coach.

CLG did not provide any more information about the move and what this means for Crown. If anything changes we’ll be sure to update the story with the latest.
