LA Thieves defeat New York Subliners to continue at Stage 2 Major

Los Angeles Thieves sweep the New York Subliners to keep their losers bracket run alive.

After benching franchised player Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat for rookie Zach “Drazah” Jordan, LA Thieves has outshined everyone’s expectations. The LA Thieves started in Losers Round 1 at the beginning of the tournament after going 1-4 in Group A. Drazah joining the team from Challengers and Kenneth “Kenny” Williams switching from submachine gun to assault rifle was the change the team needed.

LA Thieves swept the Paris Legion in Losers Round 1 to begin the Stage 2 Major. In Losers Round 2, the London Royal Ravens took a 2-0 lead over the Thieves. With their backs against the wall, the LA Thieves persevered to pull off the reverse sweep over London. That brought them to their current matchup against the New York Subliners who started in the Winners Bracket. They were swept by the Dallas Empire before falling to the losers bracket against the Thieves.

LA Thieves send New York Subliners packing

Checkmate Hardpoint opened the series which went back and forth. The LA Thieves started out on the back foot after Kenny had a hard time securing kills early. It was not until the middle of the match that things began to shift in the Thieves’ favor. Kenny came in clutch for the Thieves in the final moments to secure the game 250-200.

The series continued with another Checkmate map, this time for Search and Destroy. LA Thieves have been known for their Search and Destroy maps and this match was no different. If it had not been for a close 6th round, the LA Thieves would have taken the second map 6-0. A poor performance from everyone on the Subliners landed the Thieves a 6-1 victory.

Yet another Checkmate would be the deciding map of the series, this time for Control. LA Thieves started off hot with a round win over New York while defending. However, New York answered back with a defensive win of their own to tie the Control 1-1. The Thieves secured yet another defensive round before closing things out on the final round on attack. They take the Control 3-1 and the series with a clean 3-0 to advance at the Major.
