ICE Challenge $250,000 tournament details revealed

The tournament organizer behind the ICE Challenge has provided details regarding the format, prize pool, and participating teams.

The event will offer up a total of $250,000 and eight teams will be battling it out for their shot at the lion’s share at $125,000 for first place.

1. $125,000
2. $50,000
3-4. $25,000
5-6. $10,000
7-8. $2,500

Starting on February 1st, the event will kick off with a GSL group stage lasting two days. After one team is eliminated from each group the event will enter the playoffs at ExCeL from February 4th to 6th. After the finalists are set, the grand final will be played as a best-of-five.

There’s a variety of teams attending the event with Natus Vincere, mousesports, and the new Virtus.pro lineup being joined by the likes of OG’s new squad, GODSENT, Mad Lions, and more.

mousesports went into the player break looking very strong having earned a spot as the #2 team in the world thanks to several tournament wins and finals appearances to end the year.

Natus Vincere’s lineup has looked strong in some regards, however, the drop off of Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovács seems to be a bit of a roadblock for the squad.

The new OG lineup did okay in their first outing at cs_summit 5, but there’s still plenty of questions around the side and a larger sample side is certainly needed and will be gained from this event.
