Gilius completes Schalke 04's 2020 roster

Jungler Erberk “Gilius” Demir is the final piece of Schalke 04’s 2020 roster puzzle, the organization confirmed Tuesday. This is Gilius’ second stint with the team after playing for Schalke in the 2016 Summer Split.

This also marks Gilius’ return to the LEC, after he spent 2019 playing in smaller leagues: first in Turkey’s TCL for Besiktas, and later in the German Ad Hoc Gaming, competing in the domestic Premier Tour and ESL Meisterschaft.

Gilius joins a promising Schalke roster — although perhaps not a championship-winning one — featuring veterans of the game like top laner Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu and returning bot lane carry Konstantinos “FORG1VEN” Tzortziou. Odoamne is the only player left from the 2019 roster, which came close to Worlds qualification but lost critical matches to both Fnatic and Splyce, two of the teams that ended up representing the LEC at Worlds 2019.

“We followed the development of Erberk with great interest and found that he made significant progress, especially last year. We want to build on this and further support Erberk in his development. We are convinced that he has the potential to hold his own in the LEC”, said Tim Reichert, Chief Gaming Officer of the club.
