Elephant take down LGD before the Spring Festival break

PSG.LGD and Elephant would be the final China Dota Pro Circuit League battle before the teams from the region went on a two week break for the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year).

Earlier today we saw Team MagMa find their first victory in the China DPC League Season 1 as they took down LBZS, who would remain in last place in the standings, without a single victory recorded currently. This left only one series to play in week 3 for the region, before they had a two week break due to the Chinese New Year – PSG.LGD versus Elephant. The latter had only seen success in a single series so far, holding a 1-2 record, while LGD sat only one spot higher at 2-1 – so we were in for an explosive series between the two giants of China Dota 2.

The first game of the series would go the way of LGD, thanks to some magnificent plays by Zhao “XinQ” Zixing’s Puck, combined with Wang “Ame” Chunyu’s Monkey King. Although Elephant had a few brief windows of opportunity to turn things around, LGD made sure that they slammed the door shut and took the lead. However, Elephant were prepared to fight back in game two, as they crushed their opponents quickly, realizing the possible threat of the late-game Medusa and ensuring that the final series of week 3 would go the distance.

The final game seemed rather calm for nearly 20-minutes, before it descended into complete chaos, with teamfights constantly breaking out. Neither team seemed scared to utilise their buybacks on cooldown and, once the chaos had faded away, after almost an hour, it was Elephant who came out ahead, ensuring a massive victory before the break.

For the two teams, LGD and Elephant, the result does not change much for the time being in the standings, as LGD still have more game victories – thanks to their game one win. Both teams, as well as the other six from the region, will return for Week 4 of the China DPC starting on February 23rd.
