CLG bench Crown, bring in Pobelter to the mid lane

Counter Logic Gaming made moves Wednesday to try and salvage their horrible LCS season so far. The team benched their starting mid laner Lee “Crown” Min-ho and acquired former Team Liquid coach Eugene “Pobelter” Park, who will start for CLG in Crown’s place.

“We know we have a lot of work to do but we are not giving up on this split,” CLG tweeted.

This would be Pobelter’s second stint with CLG, after he played for the organization in the 2015 Summer Split.

CLG will need more than just not giving up on the split. They are currently last in the league at 1-7, their only victory against seventh-place Evil Geniuses. Replacing Crown, however, is a good first step. The Korean’s current form is far removed from his Worlds-winning days on Samsung and since his 2017 run, he’s had nothing but disappointments. In 2018, Gen.G flopped out of Worlds, failing to beat the group stages, which later prompted Crown’s transfer to the LCS. His stint with OpTic ended with failing to make playoffs in Spring and only a top 6 finish in Summer, his performance leaving much to be desired. In the current 2020 season, Crown ranks towards the bottom of almost every statistical category, including having the worst KDA of all mid laners in the league.

For Pobelter and his fans, however, this is a great opportunity. The former FlyQuest mid was not picked by any team in the LCS, leaving his future career uncertain.
